Conference overview

An academic gathering designed as a complete research experience.

The University of Duhok hosted this two-day conference at its Convention Center on 28–29 October 2025. The KRG Ministries of Higher Education and Health organised it jointly, with Hawler Medical University and other Kurdistan Region universities. Under the slogan 'Scientific Documentation of Anfal Crimes and Mass Graves: Towards International Recognition of the Genocide of the Kurdish People', it gathered scholars, survivors, parliamentarians and officials. Its specialised panels covered forensic science, trauma, legal accountability and the role of media, alongside a photographic and documentary exhibition. It closed with 16 formal recommendations, and its papers are published as proceedings in English, Arabic and Kurdish on the conference website.
