Conference story
The University of Duhok hosted this joint conference of the law colleges of Duhok, Salahaddin-Erbil and Sulaimani universities at its Convention Center on 23–24 April 2025, under the slogan 'Effective Administration and Renewed Legislation for a Better Future'. It examined constitutional and legal challenges in federal states, particularly Iraq: how legislative powers are split between federal and regional authorities, legal harmonisation, constitutional interpretation, and resource and digital-governance legislation. Over 150 participants attended, including judges, legal experts and academics, with 14 Iraqi universities and international scholars taking part. More than 54 papers were presented across 14 panels in three halls, and the conference closed with recommendations read by the chair of the scientific committee.
